A thought is not just a rigid thought. It’s made up of  mixture of pictures, sounds and feelings. It has a structure.

A thought invokes an emotion.

An emotion is not just a rigid emotion. It’s made up of a number of feelings, further perceptions and memories. It has a structure.

Change at the content level is difficult. Content is the unhelpful stories about stammering that make up your thoughts. It’s the solid seeming feelings of anxiety and helplessness you feel in your body.

But by breaking down your thoughts and emotions into their constituent parts, real change becomes possible. You give yourself space to see your thoughts and emotions as just that – thoughts and emotions, nothing to worry about.
