Looking back my life so far, there were times when I was younger when life was seriously difficult. But I realise that it was mostly because in those days I was fearful of talking about my stammering. When I started to research into the area and look for help, it was there. I was able to see a Speech and Language Therapist through the NHS. Although this didn’t really help me personally, at least the support was there. Private help was also available through intense speech therapy courses. Then we have two massive charities in the form of the British Stammering Association and The Association for Research into Stammering in Childhood. It makes me quite proud to be British.
