How you change the world

I’ve just listened to Danny Rossi’s interview with Sachin of TISA in which Sachin talks about the First National Conference on Stammering and Self-Help in India. I really enjoyed it. What I found particularly interesting were the points Sachin made about being a person who stammers in India and how people would rather just not talk about it. In general it’s considered a taboo issue. Being of Indian origin myself, this is something I can personally relate to you.

Anyhow it made reflect on my view on what is happening over in India – You have a bunch of people in India who stammer and have come to grips with it. Further, they see the plight of fellow people who stammer in their nation, particularly the self-denial and lack of understanding of other people of what they are going through. Against all the odds, they organise the first national conference in their country!

This to me is a true example of inspirational change occuring right in front of our eyes.

It reminded me of one of my favourite quotes:

“Be the change you want to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi

  1. Ghandi’s quote is one of my favorites too. In fact, it was our toastmaster district’s theme last year.
I too really enjoyed Danny’s episode with Dr Sachin. Individual people can change the world, one person and one effort at a time!
